RENAISSANCE

Fui apresentada ao Renaissance por uma amiga da faculdade, Cristina Alvarenga. Obrigada Cristina, foi amor à primeira vista ou melhor à primeira audição. A voz cristalina de Annie Haslam , os arranjos orquestrais (depois substituidos por sintetizadores) ,a música de Michael  Dunford e as letras  da poetisa Betty Thatcher (convidada por ele), com influencia da música erudita fizeram dos "discos" desta banda do Reino Unido um deleite para os ouvidos mais exigentes. Hoje a Renaissance é conhecido como rock progressivo, mas há quem alegue que o rótulo de rock clássico cabe melhor a ela.

Aqui os vídeos de duas músicas do álbum "Ashes are burning" de 1973, que eu só conheci em 1979 e que ainda possuo (o LP).

A beleza das sementes

Criada  para a EXPO XANGAI 2010 pelo designer inglês Thomas Heatherwick  e seu estúdio, a chamada de Catedral de Semente, tem uma estrutura de madeira perfurado com 60 mil filetes de fibra ótica transparente. Cada filete tem 7,5m de comprimento e contém sementes de espécies de plantas do mundo inteiro em suas pontas.


A idéia é criar um banco de coleta de sementes.  A Expo Xangai começou em maio deste ano e vai até outubro. A escultura  faz parte do Pavilhão do Reino Unido e sementes serão colocadas até o ano 2020, Durante o dia, cada uma dessas varas, age como filamentos de fibra óptica, captando luz para iluminar o interior. À noite, fontes de luz embutidas em cada haste trazem brilhos pontuais em toda a estrutura. Após a exposição , as hastes e as sementes serão distribuídas a escolas na China e no Reino Unido.
